Many people think of massage as a form of relaxation. Massage is definitely relaxing but did you know the other health benefits it provides?

  1. Anxiety
  2. Digestive disorders
  3. Fibromyalgia
  4. Headaches
  5. Insomnia related to stress
  6. Myofascial pain syndrome
  7. Paresthesias and nerve pain
  8. Soft tissue strains or injuries
  9. Sports injuries
  10. Temporomandibular joint pain

There are some medical terms up there, but the point is massage can do much more than relax you. At Native Touch we customize every massage for your specific needs. If you are suffering from an ailment, let us know and you will be surprised how we can help!

Health benefits sourced from Mayo Clinic's article which can be found here.

While no two massage therapy training courses are identical, typical instruction entails basic studies in anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology - where it goes from there is entirely dependent upon the healing arts school in which one enrolls. For example, if you would like a foundational course in bodywork, then common techniques taught in most massage therapy training programs encompass Swedish massage, sports massage and deep tissue massage. However, if you would like to take more advanced massage therapy training, then a large number of alternative health schools may provide in-depth, practical training a wider assortment of massage modalities.

I appreciate this information about the benefits of a massage. It is good to know that massages can help with headaches. My sister would get chronic migraines and found great relief through regular massages. She would recommend this option to everyone.

It really is surprising that so few people know about what other benefits a massage can provide outside of rest and relaxation. Fortunately, the article does a great job of putting a little list together. In particular, I like that it brings up anxiety at number one because that is something that a lot of people deal with and are always looking for ways to handle.

My mom seems to be stressed about my sister's wedding coming up, and I want her to enjoy this time of life. It is good to know that a massage can help with anxiety problems. I also did not know that a massage could be customized for the specific needs of the person. I will talk to my mom about getting a massage to help ease her mind.

Thanks for the information on the benefits of getting a massage, it was very helpful. I had no idea that massage therapy could actually help with digestive disorders, I thought it was mostly muscular benefits. My brother's company wants to start offering employee massages and they are weighing the benefits, I will be sure to share this information with him.

As we all know that we are too busy in our lives and doesn't have time to relax both body and mind. My suggestion is to have a massage therapy once or two in a week to lower the level of stress and pain in your stiffed body.

I never knew that getting a message could help with anxiety! My sister struggles with anxiety and she told me last night about how bad it has been the past couple of weeks. I'll make sure to pass this information along to her so she can look into getting a massage to help with her anxiety!

Thank you for a very informative article. Receiving massage is very beneficial and there is no doubt about it. Massage therapy combined with acupuncture seems to be even more effective.

I've been having issues with anxiety, and I'm not sure what to do about it. It makes sense that I would want to get a massage therapist to help me out with this! It's interesting that proper massages can help out with these kinds of issues.
